New Bern, NC
The City of New Bern has four designated historic districts with charming homes on tree-lines streets ranging from cozy cottages to imposing three-story homes dating from the 1750's. The downtown district is the oldest with many Federal and Georgian and some Victorian and Italianate style homes. The majority of these homes have been restored and updated. Prices vary from $250,000 to $950,000 plus. The Ghent and Riverside districts are slightly more transitional and many of these homes await restoration and some updating. The Degraffenreid neighborhood is our newest historic district. Prices here are more moderate and you can enjoy mature landscaped and some fenced lots. Moving away from the historic district, New Bern also offers many new subdivisions in the Brices Creek area of town. A series of varied and lovely neighborhoods and subdivisions such as Lake Clermont, River Trace, Oakview, Snug Harbor, Hunter's Ridge, Deer Run, Reedy Creek, Home Place and Rock Creek Farms. Many of these enjoy waterfront and water views along the Trent River. Greenbrier is a premier planned community with a first class golf course - The Emerald. The club also offers tennis courts and a pool area. This area is popular because of the large lot sizes and beautiful homes with lush landscaping. Taberna is located across the Trent River about 3 miles from Downtown New Bern and offers all city utilities including sewer and water. With a fine golf course, private club, swimming pool and tennis courts, there is something for everyone including pedestrian walking trails and a canoe dock on Brices Creek. Most homes are about 2-10 years old and feature many sought after upgrades. A few lots are still available for building. Carolina Colours is a newer and exciting planned community with a pavilion, golf course, pool and much more! Shopping is convenient with a new town center and the area is still growing with residential and commercial building happening. It all sits on 2000 beautiful wooded acres just 4 miles from town. Sellhorn Heights, Derby Park, Surrey Dows, Jimmies Creek, Belle Oaks, Berkshire, Oak Creek are all newer neighborhoods that offer affordable housing options. This is just a sampling of neighborhoods that New Bern offers - there are more!
